It's A Madhouse Out There: 4 Steps To Take If You're Injured While Shopping

About Me
Don't Worry, It's The Law

Thanks for stopping by my website focused on law. My name is Luke Donahue and I absolutely love law and order. I wish that there was a greater respect for law in our society. When we understand what is expected of us and what is allowed, it is much easier to make decisions and live a fulfilling life. I feel that some do not respect the law because they simply do not understand it. Therefore, I have decided to create a website that covers various legal topics of interest to me and I will try to explain these topics from a layman's perspective.

It's A Madhouse Out There: 4 Steps To Take If You're Injured While Shopping

Now that the holiday season is in full-swing, it's time to head out to the malls to pick up a few gifts. If this year is anything like last year, the stores are going to be crowded with lots of holiday shoppers. It's up to store personnel to make sure their shopping floors are safe for holiday shoppers. If they don't, their shoppers run the risk of suffering from some serious slip and fall, or trip and fall accidents. If you're one of those unlucky shoppers who gets injured in a retail store this holiday season, you'll need to take the proper measures to protect your health and your personal injury claim. Here are four important steps you'll need to take if you're injured in a retail store:

Don't Give a Statement

If you fall while you're shopping this holiday season, management is going to want to prevent a huge insurance claim. That means they're going to do their best to decrease their liability for the accident. One way to do that is to get you to give a statement. They'll be hoping that you say something that will turn the liability for the injuries away from them, and on to you. That's the last thing you want to do. If you've been injured, don't give any statements until you can consult with an attorney.

Get the Names of Management

While you're waiting for medical attention, you'll want to start gathering names. The first thing you should do is get the names of all the managers for the store you're in, especially the names of the general store manager and the managers that are on duty at the time of your accident. You'll need this information when you file paperwork with their insurance company for your medical bills.

Accept Emergency Services and Transport

If you've been injured in a retail store, you want to wait for emergency services to arrive. You never know how bad your injuries are. If they want to transport you to a local hospital, accept the transport. The emergency room is exactly where you want to be after a trip and fall, or slip and fall accident. You could have suffered, back, neck or head injuries that you're unaware of.

Speak to an Attorney as Soon as Possible

Once you've received medical attention for your injuries, you need to speak to an attorney. Don't try to negotiate with the retail store, their attorneys, or their insurance company without your own legal representation.
